🤝 TRUST

Definition: The foundation of psychological safety, accountability, and team resilience.

3 Ways to Build Trust:

  1. Consistency – Follow through on what you say. Predictable leaders earn respect.
  2. Clarity – Set clear expectations and priorities. Remove ambiguity.
  3. Presence – Show up. Listen. Make space for feedback, even when it’s hard.

Quick Exercise: Ask your team: “What’s one thing I can do to earn or rebuild trust with you this month?”


💬 EMPATHY

Definition: Understanding how others feel, work, and experience the system—then leading accordingly.

3 Ways to Apply Empathy in Leadership:

  1. Empathy Interviews – Ask team members: “What’s making your work harder than it should be?”
  2. Decode Resistance – Assume frustration is feedback. Lean in.
  3. Mirror & Validate – Paraphrase what you hear, and reflect it back.

Quick Exercise: Start your next 1:1 with: “What’s something you’re not saying in meetings that I should hear?”


🔓 EMPOWERMENT

Definition: Giving people both authority and support to act — without micromanaging.

3 Ways to Empower Effectively:

  1. Decision Mapping – Who owns which decisions? Are they clear?
  2. Autonomy Framework – Set guardrails, not cages.
  3. Celebrated Ownership – Reward initiative, not just output.

Quick Exercise: List 5 decisions you currently make that someone on your team could. Delegate one today.
